Bio

Branson & His DogBranson Reynolds has a master’s degree in biology and in addition to his animal behavior studies has also worked professionally in the field of archaeology. These backgrounds, coupled with his passion for photography, eventually led to a carreer as a photographer, writer, teacher, and guide.  For over thirty years he has explored, studied, and photographed the wildlife, landscapes, ancient ruins, native people, and funky "Americana" of the Western states.  His work has appeared in numerous publications such as Outside, Backpacker, Wilderness, Bugle, Wildlife Conservation, Outdoors, Outdoor Life, Time/Life Books, the New York and Los Angeles Times, and on the Outdoor Channel. His photography has been exhibited in galleries in Santa Fe, San Francisco, Toronto, and his hometown of Durango, Colorado, and his images were featured in books including AMONG THE ASPENS, CEDAR MESA–A PLACE WHERE SPIRITS DWELL, and ONE DRIVE IN A MILLION.

My philosophy on leading photographic tours:
For nearly 20 years I’ve been guiding other photographers into some of the most awe-inspiring regions of the Southwest, and my goal is to provide a quality experience for those who accompany me.

"Ultimately I felt that this workshop was one of the most rewarding photographic experiences in which I have participated. I was impressed by the care you took to see that, by the time it was over, all the participants felt that they had shared in a rewarding experience".  Denis Brown, Toronto, Canada.

"I just wanted to thank you Branson for providing me with a great photo adventure to Canyon Country. I had a great time! I enjoyed meeting you and can’t thank you enough for all you did for me.  Thanks for taking me to all the best sites and thanks for the endless instruction and guidance.  I learned a lot, and you were most patient with me."  Art Newberg, Waltham, MA

To insure that I have time to work with each client , group size is usually limited to 6 photographers. I also believe that a "sense of place" is important in creating meaningful images and lasting memories, and I thus only take clients into areas where I am very familiar with the natural and cultural history as well as the best times and seasons for different photographic locations.

"The breadth of your knowledge about the area was awesome. And I will use your tips about filters, backlit shots, flash fill, wide angle lenses and photograpnhy in general for years to come."  Dick Rowen, San Diego, CA

"Your knowledge enriched my visit so that instead of just looking at interesting sights, it helped me understand."Donna Graves, Hatfield, PA

"Not only did I learn a lot about photography and see some incredible places, I was astounded by your knowledge of the land. I returned home with a lot more than beautiful pictures."  Rob White, Sacramento, CA

The trips I lead have evolved out of more than 30 years of photographing, exploring and studying throughout the Southwest. My favorite locations are those that I today offer to others who I hope will enjoy the beauty and magic as much as I do.
