March 16-22, 2008:SOUTHERN ARIZONA: WILD WEST COUNTRY and the LAND of the GIANT CACTUS
From deep in Mexico the Sonoran Desert pushes north into Arizona, creating a mysterious land of giant cactus, haunting landscapes, and unending photographic opportunities. Though hottest and driest of North American deserts, life is amazingly abundant in the Sonoran, and in Spring the land comes alive with bird sound and delicate reds and yellows and blues of wildflowers. 
And everywhere, towering into the deep blue of the desert sky, the waving arms of the Giant Saguaro frame the beauty of this strange land.
As mysterious and beautiful as their desert home, the wildlife of the Sonoran, from hummingbirds to rattlesnakes to Desert Bighorns, can be photogtraphed in the natural enclosures of the Sonoran Desert Museum where we will spend an afternoon.
For variety, "Western Americana", and pure FUN, we’ll spend an afternoon in "Old Tucson" before our evening desert shoot, and we’ll also enjoy an overnight adventure in the wildest of wild west towns, Tombstone.
On another day we’ll explore and photograph the magnificent old Spanish Mission of San Xavier del Bac, the "White Dove of the Desert", and the equally intriguing old mission of Tumacacorri. And somewhere along the way we’ll visit the Tucson Center for Creative Photography where we can gain inspiration from some of the world’s most famous photographers. AND—we’ll spend a couple of hours shooting around Tucson’s old Territorial Capital building and the Art Center—you’ll be amazed at the unique images found in this area.
That’s IT!!! I don’t think we could fit any more into five days of variety and photographic adventure.
