The San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado are one of the most majestic and rugged ranges in North America. Comprising the largest range within this country's Rocky Mountains, they re also the highest range in the country, with thirteen peaks rising to over 14,000 feet. The San Juan Skyway, one of the nation's fifty-four "National Scenic Byways", was recently the first choice, based on natural beauty and historical significance, of eleven drives selected as "All American Highways". For five days we will wander along this spectacular route, visiting the historic towns of Durango, Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride, as well as ghost towns such as Alta and Animas Forks. In between we'll visit waterfalls and mountain meadows backed by the majestic San Juan Mountains. We'll also catch the historic Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge train at prime photo locations.

Dates: July 22-26
